Bike Utah Valley

There is a lot that goes into making a city more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.This article in the Washington Post goes into it quite a bit.  First of all, it takes more than bike lanes and sidewalks.  

Washington DC and its surrounding suburbs, along with assistance from the State and Federal governments, have spent Billions on rapid and efficient public transit in the form of the DC subway system.  Of course it goes without saying that Utah has made a small start at transit development with the building of Trax light rail and Frontrunner commuter rail, but we still insist on spending the vast majority of the available funds on roads.  Cities and states in other parts of the country, like Washington DC and surrounding communities in Maryland and Virginia for example, are placing a focus more on community and public space than on getting cars around as fast as possible.  Think of what your street or neighborhood would be like if your community and the State of Utah did that kind of an about face.  Then think about getting around, by bike!
